Who is Todd Rubinstein?
Todd Rubinstein brings a plethora of knowledge, passion and integrity to the game of tennis, always emphasizing that hard work and the right mindset can take you anywhere.
Todd has been in the tennis industry as a coach for 30+ years and is the current USPTA Florida Region 8 (South Florida) President, which includes all of Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe Counties. He is also a USPTA Elite Professional Coach, a certified USTA High Performance Coach, was the 2018 USPTA National High School Tennis Coach of the Year, the 2018 Tennis Industry Magazine National High School Coach of the Year, was the Team USA Head Tennis Coach at the 2017 World Maccabiah Games and the 2019 European Maccabi Games, the 2018 USPTA District 16 Professional of the Year, the 2017 & 2021 USPTA Florida High School Coach of the Year, the 2017 & 2018 Mourning High Coach of the Year and the 2016 FHSTCA Wilson 3A Florida High School Tennis Coach of the Year. Todd was also honored as the 2021 & 2022 USPTA Florida District President of the Year, as well as the 2021 USPTA Florida Section of the Year (Miami), a USTA Boy's & Girl's 14s Intersectional Coach and was appointed to the 2023 - 2024 USTA National Awards Committee.
Todd is also an educator, as he has worked for Miami-Dade County Public Schools for 24 years as a Special Education Teacher, Coordinator and Chair. He is the Head Tennis Coach for Mourning High and has been a head tennis coach for 20+ seasons with over 500+ team wins; including multiple District & Regional Championships and Two Individual State Championships. He was Mourning High's 2020 Teacher of the Year, was honored as a Miami-Dade County Public School's Finalist for 2019 High School Coach of the Year, is an NFHS Certified Interscholastic Coach and served a term on the FHSAA Tennis Advisory Committee.
As an athlete, Todd played #1 singles & #1 doubles at Barry University, where they have more recently gone on to win multiple NCAA Division II National Men's and Women's Team Championships. While at Barry, Todd attained his B.A. in Communication, his M.S. in Exceptional Student Education and his Ed.S in Educational Leadership. He has been ranked #1 in singles, doubles and mixed doubles in USTA Florida in multiple divisions and as high as #3 in the USA.
A native Floridian, Todd is the founder of Sunshine State Tennis, Quarantine Tennis and Todd's 20 Second Tennis Tips. He has been featured or seen on The Today Show, Entertainment Tonight, Tennis Magazine, ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, ABC News Now, CBS Miami Mentoring Matters, NBC 6 in the Mix, NPR, the Miami Herald, USA Today, Sports Illustrated, FOX's Deco Drive and many other national, regional & local news publications and platforms. Todd was also honored by Ronald McDonald House Charities as one of their "12 Good Men" of South Florida.
